June 20: Isle of Skye and Portree

Skye is Norse for Cloud Island and is connected to the Scottish mainland by the modern Skye bridge that was built in early 1990s.

Portree is the port and main town on the Isle of Skye, although we still were tendered into the town.

Early morning sunshine, at the base of the monroe (a hill over 3,000 ft) are salmon farm nets where they raise salmon for about a year before harvesting.


Red Cuillon



Approaching Eilean Donan Castle. Originally built in 13th Century, fortifies an area where three lochs meet first against the Norse, but then involved in Jacobite rebellion. Elizabeth ordered for it to be destroyed.  Rebuilt by McCrae descendants in 1930s
